Prairie Forged was built around a simple idea: great bird dogs are shaped by wild birds, hard country, and time afield.

My passion for bird dogs began long before I ever guided professionally. Like many hunters, I became fascinated not just by finding birds, but by watching exceptional dogs do what they were bred to do. Over time, that fascination grew into a lifelong pursuit of developing and hunting behind bird dogs that combine intelligence, style, bird sense, and a natural connection with their handler.

Today, Prairie Forged represents that pursuit.

The dogs in this program are not developed in a kennel yard or evaluated solely by ribbons and titles. They are tested in the places that matter most—on wild birds across the prairies, grasslands, and grouse covers of North America. Through professional guiding, training, and countless days in the field, every dog is given opportunities to prove itself under real hunting conditions.

I am drawn to dogs that move effortlessly through the country, handle birds with intelligence, and hunt with independence while remaining connected to their handler. Style matters. Class matters. But above all, I value dogs that consistently find birds and make hunting enjoyable season after season.

Prairie Forged is also a record of that journey. Through photography, field notes, and training updates, I share the development of the dogs, the lessons learned from wild birds, and the decisions that shape the future of the program. Every breeding, every prospect, and every season afield contributes to the long-term goal of producing bird dogs that are as rewarding to live with as they are to hunt behind.
